Why Stakeholder Engagement Is Really About Brain Science. The Human Side of Transformation Series (3 of 5)

One of the most common mistakes in transformation? Designing solutions before engaging stakeholders.

We often assume that if we create the perfect solution, people will naturally embrace it.

Reality says otherwise.

Neuroscience tells us that people are far more likely to support what they help create.

Why?

Participation increases:

- Ownership

- Control

- Trust

- Commitment

When stakeholders feel heard, the brain interprets the experience as collaboration rather than imposition.

The result:

- Less resistance

- Better solutions

- Faster adoption

Before launching your next initiative, ask:

- What do people value about the current state?

- What frustrates them?

- What would success look like from their perspective?

The answers often reveal opportunities no project team could discover alone.

Transformation doesn't start with a solution.

It starts with a conversation. (Please don’t continue making the mistake to design it all and then engage. I know it can be scary to take this route, but it is the path to adoption.)
